FREE VOCAL WARM UPS FOR NEWSLETTER #3
Hello from the Hot Tips for Smart Singers Newsletter!
This first exercise uses both the hum and all the vowels. The firm hum gets the sound buzzing in the bones of the face.
Then you bounce off that hum into the vowels. I won´t take the exercise very high or low. So, you can concentrate on feeling a nice warm buzz and easily focussed vowels:
1. Vocal Warm Up - MA-MAY-MEE-MOH-MOO
The second exercise is based on the sounds, Yum Yum. The Y consonant helps to send the sound into the face and the UH vowel tends to open the back of the throat. Ending with M is getting back to the the very useful hum sound. Again, I won´t take these very high or low. This is the beginning of your vocal warm up, so no extremes. Instead you concentrate on vocal co-ordination.
2. Vocal Warm Up – YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM
I hope you enjoy these exercises. You can repeat each exercise several times in order to learn it and gain from it.
I Wish You Great Singing!

¨I really like the idea of explaining the function of each vocal exercise. It gives more meaning to the exercise when you clearly understand this in detail. So I like this Monday`s tip. It also made me realize that I want to ask myself before each exercise what this exercise is attempting to do. I think I understand the purpose of most but not in the detail you explained in this vocal tip where one 3 letter sound does 3 physiological things. Many thanks.¨
