Montreal based, Barbara Lewis is a singer, songwriter, teacher, writer and speaker who presents performance seminars for singers that blend the mystical aspects of a performer’s life with down-to-earth music business concerns. She takes her inspiration from many remarkable artists: Joni Mitchell, Maya Angelou, Joseph Campbell and countless others.
For 8 years Barbara taught singing at Montreal’s Concordia University where she worked with singers who were interested in jazz, classical, song writing, music theatre, pop & rock styles of music.
In 1998, Lewis left the University to spend more time writing music, performing and building a music business. From 1998-2001, Lewis lived primarily in New York City where she wrote music, recorded, and gave talks about the music business. She now lives in Montreal where she teaches vocalists of all ages, styles and levels of singing. Lewis uses both acoustic and high tech tools during lessons. Her approach to teaching is personal, creative & practical.
Through her performances, writings and seminars Lewis explores some of the major social and philosophical issues of our times and encourages us to become more aware of our human potential.
